“I have been thinking and this is probably a controversial thing to say, but I don’t think it’s right to brand racist people ‘thick, stupid, dumb, moronic’ …
Yes their ideals may well be ridiculous, even stupid to the average person, but that doesn’t mean they themselves are stupid. They may well…”
You’re implying that all racists are working class and poorly educated. nick griffin, oswald moseley etc are/were very well educated. the daily mail is written mainly by middle class people. to say that racism is confined to a group of skinheads from a council estate is just as ignorant as many of the stereotypes that the far right themselves assume. there’s a difference between ignorance and being misinformed. i’ve grown up around racism and can honestly tell you that calling someone a wanker does more to make them grow out of racism then any debate to their (heopefully temporarily) ignorant ears will.

I sort of agree with you..but I wonder how someone actually being racially bullied would feel about ignoring it and entering into a debate later… I think its a bit too easy for us to say ‘rise above it’ when we will never have to do it ourselves..
